Interior Decorator

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will (but is not limited to):

  • Collaborate with clients to understand their design preferences, requirements, and budget.
  • Develop interior design concepts, themes, and color schemes tailored to client needs.
  • Prepare design layouts, sketches, mood boards, and 3D visualizations for client approval.
  • Source furniture, décor items, fabrics, and materials that align with design concepts.
  • Present design proposals and project plans to clients clearly and professionally.
  • Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and vendors to ensure timely project delivery.
  • Supervise installation, styling, and finishing touches of interiors to ensure quality standards.
  • Conduct site visits to monitor project progress and adherence to design specifications.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, innovative materials, and interior design technologies.
  • Manage project budgets, prepare quotations, and control costs to stay within client allocations.
  • Resolve design-related issues or challenges that arise during project execution.
  • Maintain detailed project documentation, including reports, invoices, and client approvals.
  • Advise clients on space optimization, lighting, color combinations, and décor placement.
  • Ensure health and safety standards are observed during project implementation.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to encourage repeat business and referrals.

Requirement

  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of professional experience in interior decorating or design.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating design skills and past projects.
  • Excellent creativity, attention to detail, and aesthetic judgment.
  • Proficient in design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, 3ds Max, or Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and client relationship skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.          

Required Competencies:

  • Skilled in program design, implementation, monitoring, and closeout across multiple project cycles.
  • Proven ability to design and apply Monitoring & Evaluation frameworks and track KPIs for impact measurement.
  • Competence in managing program budgets, ensuring compliance with donor and organizational standards.
  • Ability to mentor, motivate, and build the capacity of staff and volunteers to achieve program goals.
  • Ability to generate fresh, original design concepts that meet client needs.
  • Ensuring precision in measurements, materials, color schemes, and finishing.
  • Strong sense of style, color, and spatial arrangements.
  • Skilled in design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, 3ds Max, or Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Ability to plan, schedule, and execute multiple projects efficiently.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively and build trust with clients.
  • Skill in managing project costs, sourcing materials, and adhering to client budgets.
  • Meeting project deadlines while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Ability to liaise with suppliers, contractors, and vendors effectively.
  • Knowledge of current interior design trends, materials, and best practices.
  • Maintaining integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism in client dealings.
