Role Overview:
- The Head of Operations will be responsible for leading, managing, and enhancing the company’s operational framework to ensure efficiency, compliance, and business growth. The role requires a strong focus on risk management, process re-engineering, regulatory compliance, financial control, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, review, and monitor key operational risk indicators and control standards, implementing corrective measures to minimize fraud, errors, and financial losses.
- Identify and manage areas of operational risk across the business, providing effective solutions and action plans.
- Design, implement, and update the Company’s Operations Manual, ensuring strict compliance with all operational policies, guidelines, and procedures.
- Re-engineer business processes to improve efficiency, strengthen controls, reduce costs, and enhance customer experience.
- Ensure full compliance with all regulatory and statutory requirements relating to company operations.
- Establish effective documentation and user guides, while driving continuous operational improvements.
- Prepare and submit weekly, monthly, and quarterly operational and financial reports to management.
- Ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across all operational units.
- Strengthen financial management processes to support data-driven decision-making and sustainable growth.
- Oversee daily call-over of transactions, ensuring accuracy and preventing errors or omissions.
- Lead daily audit and reconciliation processes.
- Provide timely financial position reports for audit and advise management accordingly.
- Safeguard company resources by ensuring operational discipline and preventing wastage.
- Oversee annual loan renewals for customers with facilities exceeding one year.
- Prepare and manage the annual departmental budget.
- Ensure proper handling, authorization, and timely presentation of cheques and related documentation.
- Maintain accurate operational records for cheques, collections, and expenses.
- Ensure all collections and transactions are timely, accurate, and fully documented.
- Guarantee proper postings to General Ledgers (GLs) in line with company expenses and accounting standards.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Banking, Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ proven experience as Head of Operations or in a similar leadership role.
- Professional certifications (e.g., ICAN, ACCA, CIBN, or equivalent) will be an added advantage.
- Strong knowledge of operational procedures, policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated expertise in business process re-engineering and operational excellence projects.
- In-depth understanding of operational risk analysis and treasury operations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ability to quickly adapt to other business software.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication abilities.
- Strong understanding of Credit Risk Management and Procedures.
