Head of Finance

  • As the Head of Finance, you will play a pivot role by shaping the financial stability of the organization, overseeing and managing the financial control function, treasury management, accounting, budgeting, performance analysis, and financial reporting functions.

Job Description:

  • Full responsibility for budget development, planning & reporting, and liquidity management.
  • Develop and implement the financial strategy of the organization in alignment with business objectives.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, in compliance with regulatory requirements and accounting standards.
  • Conduct in-depth financial analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement and provide insightful recommendations to senior management.
  • Develop and maintain financial statements for future reference.
  • Monitor and manage expenses within the established budget.
  • Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Preparation and submission of CBN and NDIC monthly rendition Returns
  • Remittance of statutory deductions on a monthly basis, such as PAYE, WHT, VAT etc.
  • Communicate financial performance and forecasts; preparation and review of monthly and quarterly reports for Board, Shareholders, Regulatory bodies, etc.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience, preferably in a microfinance institution, with at least 3 years in a senior management position.
  • HND/BSC Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. Professional certification (e.g., ICAN, ACCA).
  • Strong knowledge of microfinance industry regulations and financial reporting standards, with experience in creating financial statements and general ledger functions.
  • Analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrates excellent understanding of financials as well as advanced business finance and performance analysis.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to communicate complex financial information to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in accounting software, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Word and good knowledge of IFRS.
