Job Overview
- This role is critical for expanding financial services reach in Nigeria by providing convenient access to banking services through agency banking and merchant acquiring.
- The Head of Agency Banking and Merchant Acquiring plays a pivotal role in driving revenue growth and enhancing financial inclusion.
Responsibilities
Merchant & Agency Network Management:
- Identify and acquire new merchant/agency clients for payment processing services.
- Monitor the performance of agencies, ensuring compliance with established Guidelines.
- Maintain and nurture relationships with existing merchant accounts & agency banking partners
- Developing and implementing expansion and growth strategy for agency banking and Merchant network management
Payment Processing Solutions:
- Offer merchant services, such as card payment acceptance, Point of Sale (POS) systems, and payment gateways.
- Collaborate with technical teams to integrate payment solutions for merchants.
- Compliance and Risk Management:
- Implement risk assessment and fraud prevention measures.
- Ensure that merchants comply with payment industry regulations and security standards
- Assess and mitigate risks associated with agency banking operations.
Business Development:
- Identify and pursue opportunities to expand the agency banking network.
- Develop strategies to increase transaction volumes and revenue.
- Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve revenue targets.
- Analyze market trends and competition to identify growth opportunities.
Merchant Support:
- Provide merchants with technical support and assistance in resolving payment issues.’
- Understand merchants’ business needs and provide tailored solutions.
Training and Development:
- Provide training and support to merchant/agency partners to ensure they are well-equipped to serve customers.
- Keep merchants/agents informed about new products, services, and banking regulations.
Performance Tracking:
- Implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of agency banking operations.
- Generate reports and analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement
- Analyze transaction data to identify patterns, trends, and opportunities for optimization.
Contract Negotiation:
- Negotiate terms and conditions of merchant/agency agreements.
- Ensure that contracts are in compliance with legal and industry standards.
Marketing and Promotion:
- Develop marketing strategies to promote merchant/agency banking services.
- Collaborate with marketing teams to create promotional materials.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related field (MBA preferred).
- 6-10 years of experience in merchant acquiring, agency banking, payment.
- Strong knowledge of payment industry regulations and compliance.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Technical understanding of payment processing systems and technologies.
- Ability to analyze data and provide actionable insights.
- Sales and business development skills.
- Problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
- Understanding of different payment methods and trends.
