Job Summary

  • The Furniture Machine Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining woodworking machinery used in the cutting, shaping, and assembling of furniture components.
  • The operator ensures machines are set up correctly and materials are processed accurately according to production specifications while adhering to safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate furniture-making machines such as panel saws, CNC routers, edge banders, boring machines, sanding machines, and tenoning machines.
  • Read and interpret production blueprints, technical drawings, or job orders to determine machine settings and material requirements.
  • Load and position raw materials (e.g., wood, MDF, laminates) into machines and monitor operations for efficiency and safety.
  • Inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality and design specifications; make adjustments as needed.
  • Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and minor repairs on machines to prevent breakdowns.
  • Monitor inventory of raw materials and report shortages or machine malfunctions to the supervisor.
  • Follow health and safety procedures in accordance with company policies and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with team members including carpenters, assemblers, and quality control personnel to ensure production deadlines are met.
  • Record production data, machine operation logs, and maintenance reports.

Requirements

  • Education: Secondary school certificate or technical vocational training in woodworking or machine operation preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience operating woodworking/furniture manufacturing machinery.
