Job Description
- Planning and delivering French language and culture lessons, developing engaging curriculum and materials, assessing student progress through various means, providing feedback, and fostering a positive, immersive learning environment.
- Teaching grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation, adapting to diverse student needs, participating in professional development, and collaborating with colleagues and parents to support student learning and well-being.
Responsibilities
Instruction and Curriculum:
- Plan and prepare engaging, well-structured French lessons following the school’s curriculum and schemes of work.
- Develop teaching materials, aids, and interactive activities to enhance language acquisition and cultural understanding.
- Incorporate technology, multimedia resources, and cultural elements (literature, history, art) into lessons.
Student Assessment and Progress Monitoring:
- Assess student learning needs, progress, and achievements through written and oral tests, assignments, and projects.
- Provide constructive feedback to students and parents regarding their performance.
- Record and report on student development, making effective use of assessment data.
Classroom Environment and Student Support:
- Create a safe, nurturing, and immersive learning environment where students feel valued and can build confidence in their language skills.
- Adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse strengths and needs of all pupils, including different ages and proficiency levels.
- Promote general progress and well-being, setting high expectations to inspire and motivate students.
- Professional and Administrative Duties:
Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and competency.
- Participate in department meetings, staff meetings, and school events, such as language clubs or multicultural celebrations.
- Engage in professional development and collaborate with colleagues to support school policies and ethos.
