Fleet Operations Manager

Key Responsibilities:

Fleet Management & Coordination:

  • Oversee the entire fleet of vehicles, ensuring optimal utilisation and availability.
  • Monitor vehicle movement and scheduling to ensure timely delivery and pickups.
  • Assign vehicles and drivers based on delivery schedules and business priorities.

Maintenance & Repairs:

  • Develop and enforce preventative maintenance schedules for all vehicles.
  • Coordinate vehicle servicing and repairs with internal technicians or external vendors.
  • Track maintenance history and manage downtime to reduce service disruptions.

Driver Supervision:

  • Recruit, train, and supervise fleet drivers.
  • Monitor driver performance, route efficiency, and compliance with safety regulations.
  • Ensure drivers follow company policies and road safety standards.

Cost & Efficiency Optimisation:

  • Monitor and control fuel usage, maintenance costs, and other fleet-related expenses.
  • Analyse fleet data and implement strategies for reducing operational costs and improving efficiency.

Regulatory Compliance & Safety:

  • Ensure all fleet operations comply with relevant transportation laws, regulations, and standards.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation for vehicles (licenses, registrations, insurance, etc.).
  • Implement safety protocols and conduct regular inspections.

Reporting & Analysis:

  • Prepare periodic reports on fleet performance, fuel usage, maintenance costs, and driver conduct.
  • Use telematics or fleet management systems for tracking and decision-making.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Transport Management, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in fleet or logistics operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance, transport regulations, and fleet management systems.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and fleet management software/tools.
