Finance Manager

Job Summary

  • We are seeking an experienced and skilled Finance Manager to join our team in Lagos Island, Nigeria.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for all day-to-day and strategic finance activities, overseeing two accountants, ensuring accurate and efficient financial reporting, managing treasury operations, coordinating tax and audit activities, and providing robust financial support for projects.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Operations & Reporting:

  • Oversee all financial operations, including supervision, mentoring, and development of the accounting team
  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting
  • Prepare and present financial reports, including P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow statements
  • Analyze financial data and trends, collaborating with department heads to manage operating costs

Financial Advice, Planning & Analysis:

  • Provide financial advice to management, supporting growth, profitability, and decision-making
  • Develop and utilize financial models to support business planning, forecasting, and scenario analysis
  • Contribute to annual budgeting and forecasting, offering micro- and macroeconomic insights

Treasury, Tax & Audit Management

  • Implement and manage effective treasury strategies, including cash flow forecasting and liquidity management
  • Coordinate with external auditors and tax consultants, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Ensure timely remittance of all applicable taxes and correct application of tax rates

Internal Controls, Compliance & Process Improvement

  • Develop, implement, and review internal financial controls to safeguard company assets
  • Identify inefficiencies in accounting and financial processes, implementing improvements
  • Monitor compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements

Team Leadership & Development:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture
  • Conduct training and provide clarity on finance-related issues to finance and non-finance staff

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • CPA, ACCA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification highly preferred.
  • 6–8 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Proven experience with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Demonstrable experience in treasury management principles, including cash flow optimization and basic investment/risk management.
  • Strong understanding of tax regulations and audit processes, with experience coordinating with external consultants and auditors.
  • Proficiency in project financial analysis, cost accounting, and gross margin analysis.
  • Advanced proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel, etc.).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to both finance and non-finance audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills and thorough attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
