Finance & Administrative Officer
Position Summary:
- As the Finance and Administrative Officer, you will oversee GHI’s financial and administrative operations, ensuring effective budgeting, accounting, reporting, procurement, and office management. You will support compliance with organizational and donor requirements while fostering efficiency across all departments.

- A transparent and efficient financial management and internal control system, timely reporting, effective administrative processes, and strengthened organizational compliance that support GHI’s strategic and program goals.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management and Reporting
- Oversee all accounting transactions, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and compliance with financial regulations and internal controls.
- Supervise and reconcile accounts payable and receivable; ensure timely bank payments and maintain strong relationships with financial institutions.
- Lead the preparation and monitoring of annual and project budgets, including expenditure tracking, variance analysis, and financial forecasting.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management and donors.
- Coordinate annual audits and ensure the implementation of audit recommendations.
Administration and Operations
- Ensure effective office administration, logistics coordination, procurement, and asset management across all departments.
- Supervise payroll processing, statutory deductions, and HR administrative functions like staff records, leave management, and welfare.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date administrative and financial documentation in line with organizational and statutory requirements.
- Lead the development and enforcement of financial and administrative policies and procedures.
Collaboration and Leadership
- Work closely with senior management to support strategic planning, financial sustainability, and resource allocation.
- Collaborate with team members across departments to ensure smooth coordination of administrative, IT, and financial activities.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, partners, and vendors to address inquiries, resolve issues, and coordinate correspondence.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to finance and administrative staff to strengthen internal capacity and promote a culture of accountability.
Qualifications and required experiences:
- A Bachelor’s and Master’s (required) degree in Accounting, Finance, or any related field is required.
- Professional certification, such as ACA or ACCA, is required.
- Strong proficiency in QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel, and other accounting software is essential.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in the NGO or development sector.
- Good understanding and knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, financial management practices, and internal control systems.
- Required personal competencies:
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Sustainability Knowledge: Knowledge of the sustainability agenda and its relationship with business. Must possess a strong interest in driving corporate action on sustainable development. Must have an international and innovative outlook and mindset.
- Computer/Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite (Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Experience using project management software (e.g., Clickup, Slack, etc) is desirable.
- Client Orientation: Considers all those to whom services are provided to be “clients” and seeks to see things from the clients’ point of view. Establishes and maintains productive relationships with key decision makers by gaining their trust and respect; Identifies clients’ needs and matches them to appropriate solutions; responds to questions, concerns, and requests from executives; meets the timeline for delivery of services to a client.
- Research and Analytical Skills: Exceptional ability to conduct research effectively and assemble this information in a timely manner. Proven critical thinker with strong analytical skills. Ability to explain complex information in a clear, concise, and practical manner. Exceptional attention to detail that demonstrates an ability to evaluate complex information or problems to find a precise and digestible solution.
- Communication and Language Skills: Advanced communication skills, including outstanding written and spoken English skills that enable him/her to communicate professionally and confidently. Ability to interact with a broad set of businesses and present over the phone, virtually, and in person. Listens to others, correctly interprets messages from others, and responds appropriately. Ability to communicate persuasively in written form to help engage at scale. Asks questions to clarify and exhibits interest in having two-way communication. Exceptional attention to detail, including tailoring language, tone, and content to match various audiences. Demonstrates openness in sharing information and keeping people informed.
- Proven ability to provide technical leadership and support.
- Ability to engage and manage strategic stakeholders, including government, implementing partners, academia, beneficiary communities, and the private sector.
