Role Overview
The Field Engineer will be responsible for providing on-site installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of ISP network services at customer locations. The ideal candidate must have solid hands-on experience with network equipment, strong diagnostic skills, and the ability to deliver excellent customer service while adhering to company standards and technical procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Installation & Configuration
- Visit customer premises to install and configure ISP services, including internet connectivity, routers, modems, switches, and cabling.
- Follow company installation guidelines, technical specifications, and safety procedures.
- Test and verify service performance to ensure speed, reliability, and connectivity meet required standards.
- Educate customers on proper use, basic troubleshooting, and maintenance of installed equipment.
Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to internet connectivity, equipment failures, or service disruptions.
- Respond promptly to customer complaints or service requests, providing effective and timely solutions.
- Collaborate with coordinators, Network Operations Center (NOC), and support teams to escalate complex issues.
- Document all service activities, customer interactions, and resolutions accurately.
Customer Service & Communication
- Interact professionally and courteously with customers to ensure an excellent service experience.
- Communicate technical concepts clearly and simply, addressing customer inquiries and concerns.
- Recommend service improvements, upgrades, and additional solutions based on customer needs.
- Liaise with sales and account management teams to share feedback and identify upselling opportunities.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Ensure all installations comply with company standards, quality benchmarks, and regulatory requirements.
- Perform routine audits and quality checks to identify and resolve deficiencies.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices to improve service quality.
Requirements & Qualifications
- High school diploma required; technical certifications or a related degree is an added advantage.
- 3–5 years’ experience in network installations within an ISP or telecommunications environment.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts, protocols, routers, switches, modems, and cabling.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and resolving internet/network connectivity issues.
- Familiarity with Windows, Linux, macOS, and network diagnostic tools.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently in the field.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to customer sites.
- Physical ability to lift and install networking equipment.
