Fibre Optic Engineer (Intern)

Duration: 8months
Stipend: 80,000

Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Fiber Optic Engineer Intern to support our engineering team in the design, installation, testing, and maintenance of fiber optic networks. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the telecommunications industry while contributing to real-world infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design and layout of fiber optic cable routes and network infrastructure
  • Support the installation, splicing, and testing of fiber optic cables
  • Work with GIS tools to document and update fiber paths and network diagrams
  • Perform signal loss measurements, OTDR testing, and troubleshoot network issues under supervision
  • Prepare reports and technical documentation on fiber performance and installations
  • Collaborate with engineers, field technicians, and project managers on active deployments
  • Follow industry best practices and safety standards during all field and lab work

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field
  • Basic understanding of fiber optic principles, network topologies, and signal transmission
  • Familiarity with tools such as OTDRs, power meters, and splicing machines is a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with GIS or AutoCAD is an advantage
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail
  • Willingness to work in both office and field environments
