External Account Manager – Polymers & Rubber

Key Responsibilities

Account Management & Growth

  • Manage and expand a portfolio of Category A & B strategic customers.
  • Retain and grow existing business through consistent customer engagement and relationship building.
  • Broaden product penetration across the full polymers & additives portfolio.
  • Identify, qualify, and convert new customer opportunities to sustainably grow market share.

Sales Performance & Commercial Excellence

  • Consistently achieve sales and gross profit (GP) targets.
  • Drive margin improvement through value selling and solution-driven customer conversations.
  • Execute structured customer profiling, pipeline planning, and growth strategies.

Market Intelligence & Reporting

  • Conduct ongoing market and competitor analysis to identify trends, threats, and opportunities.
  • Provide accurate weekly forecasting and business updates to Product Managers.
  • Submit structured weekly call reports and maintain CRM discipline (SalesForce/SAP).

Customer Engagement

  • Conduct a minimum of 20 customer visits per week with excellent preparation and follow-up.
  • Represent Brenntag at key industry seminars, trainings, and technical workshops.
  • Support clearing of short-dated or slow-moving stock (where applicable).

Governance & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with Brenntag’s SOPs, ROPs, quality standards, and commercial policies.
  • Maintain updated customer agreements and conditions of sale.

Your Profile

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong technical knowledge of Rubber, Polymers, Plastics, Additives, Masterbatch, or Compounding.
  • Commercially sharp with the ability to manage full sales cycles and resolve complex customer challenges.
  • Highly collaborative — able to work across multiple teams, regions, and business units.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and customer relationship-building skills.
  • Results-driven, proactive, and disciplined with excellent time management.

Experience

  • 5–7 years’ proven experience managing major accounts in Rubber/Polymer/Plastics distribution or manufacturing.
  • Experience working with major sector players such as Montana, Sarsoli, Reda, Rida Plastics, Himtex, or similar is highly advantageous.
  • CRM experience (SalesForce preferred); MS Office proficiency.
  • SAP experience is an advantage.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable mobility.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, Marketing, Business, or similar.
  • Specialization in Polymers or Rubber is highly desirable.
