Community Engagement Officer

About the Role 

  • We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Engagement Officer to join our team. This individual will play a critical role in strengthening relationships with our donors, volunteers, and community partners while amplifying our impact through compelling communication, events, and outreach. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and nurture professional connections with donors, sponsors, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Build trust-based relationships that encourage long-term support and collaboration.
  • Plan, organize, and execute fundraising, advocacy, and awareness events.
  • Manage event logistics, budgets, and promotional activities to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Develop engaging stories, newsletters, and visual content that highlight GCAF’s programs and impact.
  • Manage and grow the organization’s social media presence.
  • Prepare high-quality proposals, presentations, and stakeholder updates.
  • Ensure clear, inspiring, and consistent communication that reflects GCAF’s mission and values.
  • Collaborate with community leaders and members to understand their needs.
  • Align GCAF programs with community priorities for maximum relevance and impact.
  • Serve as a visible champion of GCAF in the community and at public events.
  • Represent the organization’s values and mission to diverse audiences.
  • Work closely with colleagues across fundraising, communications, and program teams.
  • Coordinate efforts to ensure strategic and consistent engagement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate records of donors, partners, and stakeholders using donor management tools.
  • Track engagement activities, follow-ups, and reporting needs.

Qualifications and Competencies Education 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Nonprofit Management, Social Sciences, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Experience

  • At least 3–5 years of relevant experience in stakeholder engagement, community mobilization, or partnership management within non-profit organizations or development projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective engagement strategies.
  • Experience working in gender-based, youth-focused, or educational programming is an advantage.

Key Competencies

  • 2–5 years of experience in community engagement, donor relations, fundraising, or communications (nonprofit experience preferred).
  • Strong writing, storytelling, and public speaking skills (Not AI. If you are not naturally good at writing Do Not Apply).
  • Experience in planning and managing events.
  • Proficiency with social media platforms and basic design/content tools.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.
