Communication Officer
Responsibilities
- Work with management to develop and implement an effective communications strategy for target audiences.
- Write, edit, and share content such as publications, press releases, website content, annual reports, speeches, and other marketing materials.
- Respond to media inquiries, arrange interviews, and serve as a spokesperson for the organization.
- Build and maintain relationships with journalists and maintain a media database.
- Look for opportunities to promote the organization’s reputation.
- Coordinate publicity events as needed.
- Keep track of media coverage and gather analytics and metrics.
- Have proficiency in design and publishing software.
- Maintain a database of media organizations and contacts within them.
- Manage the company’s or organization’s social media communications.
- Create and produce internal newsletters for the organization.
- Act as a spokesperson for the organization.
- Prepare and manage the organization’s communication budget.
- Ensure that all communications and marketing material aligns with brand standards.
- Maintain digital media archives including photos and videos.
- Respond to media inquiries and perform media outreach to achieve brand placement in publications.
Qualifications / Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or a related field.
- Must possess exceptional writing skills and be able to compose engaging and accurate content.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of communications, public relations and marketing best practices.
- Ability to think strategically and identify ways to improve communication.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a communications role.
- Knowledge of desktop publishing software such as InDesign or Photoshop.
- Strong time management and organizational abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, content management systems, and social media platforms.
