Chief Security Officer
Job Summary:
- The Chief Security Officer (CSO) is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the organization’s security operations. This includes the protection of physical assets, personnel, and information.
- The CSO will develop, implement, and enforce security policies, procedures, and strategies to mitigate risks and respond to security incidents. This role requires a strategic leader who can balance the organization’s security needs with its business goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive security strategies aligned with the organization’s business objectives.
- Lead the security team in identifying, assessing, and mitigating security risks across the organization.
- Advise the Executive team on security-related issues, threats, and opportunities.
- Establish and monitor key security performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure the effectiveness of security measures.
- Develop and enforce security policies, procedures, and standards to protect the organization’s physical and digital assets.
- Ensure compliance with relevant security regulations, industry standards, and best practices.
- Regularly review and update security policies to address emerging threats and changes in the regulatory landscape.
- Oversee the protection of the organization’s facilities, assets, and personnel.
- Implement access control systems, surveillance technologies, and security protocols to safeguard physical locations.
- Coordinate with local law enforcement, military, and private security contractors to ensure the protection of remote and high-risk locations.
- Ensure compliance with local, national, and international security regulations and industry standards relevant to the sector.
- Collaborate with the IT department to develop and implement cybersecurity strategies.
- Lead incident response efforts in the event of a cyber breach or attack.
- Develop and maintain the organization’s crisis management and incident response plans.
- Lead the response to security incidents, coordinating with internal teams and external agencies as necessary.
- Manage relationships with community and government regulatory bodies.
- Ensure compliance with all government regulatory bodies as required by law.
- Conduct post-incident reviews to identify lessons learned and improve future response efforts.
- Develop and deliver security training programs for employees at all levels of the organization.
- Conduct regular security drills and exercises to test the effectiveness of security measures.
- Manage relationships with security vendors, contractors, and external partners.
- Evaluate and select security technologies, tools, and services that meet the organization’s needs.
- Oversee the procurement and deployment of security solutions.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a CSO in an Oil & Gas company, particularly in a depot.
- A degree in Security Management, Criminal Justice, or a related field is preferred.
- Prior military/paramilitary experience in the Nigerian Army or Nigerian Police force is mandatory.
- Proficiency in the local languages (Ibibio and Efik) is an added advantage.
- Residing within or close to the area will be preferred.
- Understanding of Port Facility Security compliance is an added advantage.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing security strategies in a corporate environment.
- Experience in managing physical security, cybersecurity, and crisis management.
- In-depth knowledge of security principles, practices, and technologies.
- Ability to think strategically and make decisions under pressure.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Familiarity with relevant legal and regulatory requirements
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
