Business, Profit, Cost and Financial Management Training Facilitator

Aim of the Activity

  • To equip caseworkers of CRSV survivors with essential business, profit, cost, and financial management skills, enabling them to train and guide survivors in establishing and sustaining profitable businesses, improve their economic stability, and enhance their overall well-being as part of the transformation agenda for their IRM.

Objectives

  • To train caseworkers on business planning, profit management, and financial literacy, enabling them to effectively support CRSV survivors in establishing sustainable businesses.
  • To enhance caseworkers’ capacity to provide tailored business training and mentorship to CRSV survivors, promoting economic empowerment and stability.
  • To equip caseworkers with skills to develop and implement business plans, manage finances, and identify market opportunities, thereby supporting CRSV survivors in achieving financial independence.
  • To empower caseworkers to facilitate holistic support for CRSV survivors, integrating business skills training with psychosocial support, to promote overall well-being and sustainable recovery within the transformation agenda for their IRM.

Target Participants:

  • The training targets all caseworkers, team leads and other support staff of FRAD. Approximately 50 participants.

Methodology
The training will be conducted using the following approach:

  • The expert facilitator will be hired to deliver the training to all project caseworkers and team leads over a 5-day period
  • The training will be delivered using the USAID Life skills, Employability, Entrepreneurship and Financial Literacy Skills training manual for both trainer and trainees
  • Printed copies of the trainer and trainee manuals will be made available to all staff
  • The training will be delivered in Maiduguri through a mixed method of role plays, presentations, group work among others. Key focus areas of the training as highlighted in the manual will be addressed, including Growth and Fixed Mindset, Goal setting, SWOT analysis, meaning of business and business ideas, market survey, marketing and the 5Ps of marketing, cost categorization and start-up capital, financial planning, etc.
  • Team leads and caseworkers will conduct a step down of the training curriculum over a period of one month at the WGSS for the survivors. This will be conducted in batches to ensure that all survivors are trained on the subject.

Expected Outcome:
At the end of the training, the following outcomes are expected:

  • Caseworkers are equipped with essential business, profit, cost, and financial management skills to effectively support CRSV survivors.
  • CRSV survivors establish and sustain profitable businesses, improving their economic stability and overall well-being.
  • Increased number of CRSV survivors achieve financial independence and self-sufficiency through business ownership and management.
  • Enhanced capacity of caseworkers to provide holistic support to CRSV survivors, leading to improved recovery outcomes and sustainable transformation.

Qualification and Experience of Facilitator
Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (Master’s degree is an added advantage).
  • Professional certifications are highly desirable.
  • Additional training or certification in Training Facilitation is a plus.

Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in financial management, cost control, budgeting, or business consulting.
  • At least 3 years’ experience as a trainer or facilitator, preferably in a business or financial management context.
  • Proven experience developing and delivering training modules on topics such as:
  • Business planning and strategy
  • Profit analysis and cost control
  • Financial reporting and performance metrics
  • Familiarity with SME (Small and Medium Enterprise) development or entrepreneurship training is an asset.
  • Experience working with NGOs, development agencies, or donor-funded projects is a strong advantage.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
  • Ability to simplify complex financial concepts for non-financial participants.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and report-writing skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and financial modeling tools.
