Business Development Manager

Job Summary:

  • The Business Development Manager (BDM) plays a critical role in driving the growth, visibility, and strategic partnerships of the Chamber of Commerce. The BDM is responsible for identifying new business opportunities, strengthening relationships with existing and potential members, and supporting initiatives that enhance Nigeria–International. trade and investment. This role requires a proactive, innovative, and relationship-driven professional with strong commercial and international trade awareness.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Growth & Membership Development

  • Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities to grow the Chamber’s membership base.
  • Design and implement strategies to attract and retain corporate, SME, and individual members.
  • Develop value-driven membership packages and ensure members receive high-quality engagement and services.

Strategic Partnerships & Trade Promotion

  • Forge and maintain partnerships with key stakeholders, including Nigerian and international. businesses, government agencies, trade organizations, and donor partners.
  • Support trade missions, B2B matchmaking events, and investment forums aimed at enhancing Nigeria– international trade relations.
  • Develop proposals and presentations for partnerships, sponsorships, and collaborations.

Programs, Events & Networking

  • Manage event sponsorships and engagement opportunities with external organizations.
  • Actively represent the Chamber at trade fairs, exhibitions, and industry events, locally and internationally.

Market Research & Intelligence

  • Monitor economic trends and market developments in Nigeria and the U.S. to identify potential opportunities for members.
  • Produce insightful reports and business intelligence briefs that inform members about emerging opportunities and policy changes.

Marketing & Communication Support

  • Contribute to the development and dissemination of promotional materials, newsletters, and digital content that highlights the Chamber’s work.
  • Work with the communications team to increase the Chamber’s visibility through digital platforms and stakeholder engagement campaigns.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Marketing, Economics, International Relations, or a related field. A master’s degree is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 5–8 years of experience in business development, sales, partnership management, or trade promotion, preferably within a Chamber of Commerce, NGO, consulting firm, or multinational.
  • Knowledge of bilateral trade, private sector dynamics, and commercial relations.
  • Strong presentation, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
  • Experience in proposal writing, stakeholder engagement, and event coordination.
