Bar Manager
Key Responsibilities
Beverage Program & Quality
- Curate and maintain a sophisticated cocktail, wine, beer, and spirits program aligned with the restaurant’s concept
- Develop seasonal and signature cocktails with a focus on quality, balance, and presentation
- Ensure consistency, accuracy, and excellence in all beverages served
Operations & Financial Management
- Manage bar inventory, ordering, receiving, and storage
- Control costs through accurate forecasting, waste reduction, and portion control
- Set pricing to achieve targeted beverage cost percentages
- Oversee POS programming and ensure accurate menu descriptions and pricing
Leadership & Staff Development
- Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise bar staff
- Lead ongoing education on cocktails, spirits, wine, service standards, and hospitality
- Foster a culture of professionalism, teamwork, and accountability
- Conduct performance evaluations and coach staff for continuous improvement
Service & Guest Experience
- Ensure impeccable bar service that reflects fine dining standards
- Engage with guests to enhance their experience and build loyalty
- Address guest feedback or concerns with discretion and professionalism
- Maintain a polished, welcoming bar environment at all times
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with all alcohol laws, health regulations, and safety standards
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and proper equipment maintenance
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3–5 years of bar management experience in an upscale or fine dining setting
- Advanced knowledge of classic and contemporary cocktails, spirits, wine, and bar techniques
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Proven ability to manage budgets, inventory, and labor effectively
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to service excellence
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
Preferred Certifications
- Certified Sommelier or equivalent wine education
- Advanced mixology or spirits certification
- Responsible Beverage Service certification (e.g., ServSafe Alcohol)/
