Assistant Finance Manager
Position Summary
- We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Finance Manager to support our finance department.
- This role is critical for ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting, streamlining accounting processes, and supporting strategic financial planning.
- The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with a strong foundation in accounting principles and a desire to grow into a leadership position.
- You will play a key role in month-end close, financial analysis, and mentoring junior staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting & Analysis:
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Perform variance analysis (actual vs. budget/forecast) and provide insightful commentary to management.
- Support the budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Accounting Operations:
- Oversee and manage the general ledger, ensuring all accounts are reconciled accurately and timely.
- Supervise the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring efficiency and compliance.
- Lead the month-end and year-end close processes.
- Compliance & Internal Controls:
- Ensure adherence to company policies and relevant accounting standards.
- Assist with internal and external audit preparations.
- Help maintain and strengthen internal control procedures.
- Team Leadership & Development:
- Supervise, mentor, and train junior accounting staff.
- Delegate tasks and review the work of the accounting team for accuracy.
- Strategic Support:
- Provide financial data and analysis to support business decisions and special projects.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA or CMA certification highly preferred.
- 3+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or senior role.
- Strong experience with month-end close procedures and financial statement preparation.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and advanced skills in
- Microsoft Excel.
Required Skills And Competencies:
- Technical Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- (GAAP).
- Analytical Mindset: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a small team.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly.
- Integrity: High level of ethics and integrity when handling sensitive financial information.
- Proactive & Organised: Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
