Area Sales Manager
Job Summary
- The Area Sales Manager (ASM) is responsible for achieving sales targets, expanding market share, and managing dealer/distributor networks within the assigned territory.
- The role involves developing and executing effective sales strategies, leading a sales team, and ensuring customer satisfaction in line with the company’s goals within the automobile sector.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development:
- Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets for vehicles, spare parts, and accessories.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities, markets, and dealer networks.
- Implement sales strategies and campaigns to increase brand presence and market penetration.
- Monitor competitors’ activities, pricing, and marketing strategies to maintain market competitiveness.
Dealer / Channel Management:
- Manage existing dealers and appoint new dealers in the assigned area.
- Ensure dealers adhere to company standards for sales, service, and customer satisfaction.
- Conduct regular visits to dealers for performance reviews and sales support.
- Support dealers with inventory planning, retail financing, and promotional activities.
Team Leadership & Performance Management:
- Supervise and motivate Territory Sales Executives and Dealer Sales Consultants.
- Set clear sales objectives and performance metrics for the team.
- Conduct training, coaching, and performance reviews to enhance sales productivity.
Customer Relationship Management:
- Ensure customer satisfaction through efficient complaint handling and after-sales follow-up.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, fleet owners, and corporate clients.
Reporting & Market Analysis:
- Prepare and submit periodic sales reports, forecasts, and market intelligence reports.
- Analyze sales data and recommend corrective actions for underperforming markets or dealers.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Achievement of sales and revenue targets.
- Dealer network growth and retention.
- Customer satisfaction scores.
- Market share growth in assigned territory.
- Timely submission of sales reports and forecasts.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3 – 5 years experience in sales management, preferably in the automobile industry (passenger or commercial vehicles, two-wheelers, or spare parts) or FMCG.
- Proven track record in achieving sales targets and managing dealer networks.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
- In-depth knowledge of automobile products, market trends, and customer behavior.
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and CRM/sales tracking tools.
- Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned region.
