Main Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that the auxiliary ledger is fully reconciled on a monthly basis (Balance must be nil).
  • Ensure Ledger proofing of all ledgers assigned to you on a monthly basis.
  • Call-up and download various schedules and Ledgers as requested.
  • Participate in the preparation and update of schedules (Proof of Account Balances) for Bank related balances and other assigned ledgers.
  • Responding in a timely manner to internal requests.
  • Responsible for executing additional ad-hoc tasks as assigned by the SFO and Chief Accountant.
  • Identify Assets purchases from Petty Cash transactions (in exceptional cases), post to appropriate ledger and hand invoice/receipt/voucher to personnel responsible for Fixed Assets register maintenance for onward update of the Fixed Assets Register
  • Analyze bank-wide Petty Cash transactions monthly and point out exceptions to the Financial Control Function for further review and investigation not later than 10th day of the subsequent month.
  • Ensure that Petty Cash vouchers received from branches are appropriately filed and labelled for easy access and retrieval monthly.
  • Post approved Journals into respective account heads.
  • Ensure that previous day payments to external vendors prepared by the Treasury unit are posted to appropriate account heads.

Necessary Experience and Requirements:

  • Minimum educational qualification of National Diploma in Accounting.
  • Sound knowledge of Generally Acceptable Accounting Concepts and Principles.
  • Working knowledge of the use of Microsoft Excel.
  • Adaptability to high volume transaction environment.
  • Strong commitment to fulfillment of results.
  • Diligent, detailed oriented and good analytical skills.
  • Good communication skills (Verbal and written).
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • 1-2 years of relevant work experience is an advantage.
