Chief Financial Officer
- The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is accountable for the administrative, financial and treasury operations of the Company. These include the implementation of a financial and operational strategy, metrics tied to that strategy, and the ongoing and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results.
Planning
- Assist in formulating the Company’s future direction and supporting tactical initiatives
- Monitor and direct the implementation of strategic business plans
- Oversee the timely preparation and presentation of the Company’s annual budget
- Peer Analysis on performance and other indicators to provide insight into areas of improvement for the Company’s business
- Develop financial and tax strategies
- Manage capital requests and budgeting processes
- Develop performance measures that support the Company’s strategic direction
Maintain banking relationships
- Continually improve the timeliness and accuracy of the Company’s cash flow and management of the billing and collections process and month end, quarterly and year end closings
- Ensure appropriate insurance coverage are maintained for the Company’s assets
- Manage any third parties (e.g. tax consultants) to which accounting, or finance functions have been outsourced
- Follow up to ensure all PAYE, Pension, and WHT remittances are made within the relevant timelines to avoid fines and penalties
- Oversee the Company’s transaction processing systems
- Manage, control and monitor the implementation of the Company’s budget
- Supervise finance, treasury and credit control units
Financial Reporting and Compliance
- Oversee the issuance of financial information
- Review and approve all financial reporting items
- Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of IFRS, FRC, CAMA, FIRS, LIRS etc.
- Report financial results to the board of directors
Treasury Management
- Monitor cash balances and present weekly reports on cash and treasury positions
- Participate actively in arranging for debt and equity financing when required
Invest funds
- Monitor and ensure collection of account receivables
- Monitor and manage liabilities and payables to ensure best outcome for the Company
Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Finance, Accounting, or other finance-related field
- Proven experience in a senior financial management role, preferably as a Financial Controller or similar
- A minimum of 8–10 years of experience in similar role
- Strong knowledge of financial regulations and accounting principles
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to analyze complex financial data and provide strategic insights
- ICAN/ACCA is a must-have
