Job Summary

  • The Sonographer is responsible for performing high-quality diagnostic ultrasound examinations to assist physicians in the diagnosis and management of medical conditions.
  • The role requires technical expertise, patient care skills, and adherence to clinical, ethical, and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations (e.g., abdominal, obstetric, gynecological, pelvic, vascular, small parts, and musculoskeletal as applicable).
  • Accurately prepare patients for procedures by explaining examinations and ensuring comfort and privacy.
  • Operate ultrasound equipment safely and effectively to obtain high-quality images.
  • Analyze images and identify abnormalities for review by the radiologist or referring physician.
  • Ensure proper documentation, reporting, and archiving of images and findings.
  • Maintain ultrasound equipment and report any technical issues promptly.
  • Adhere to infection control, radiation safety, and patient confidentiality standards.
  • Work collaboratively with radiologists, physicians,and other healthcare staff.
  • Comply with professional, ethical, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Participate in continuous professional development and training activities.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or a related field.
  • Professional certification / licensure from a recognized regulatory body (where applicable).
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a clinical or diagnostic setting (preferred).
  • Proficiency in performing a range of ultrasound examinations.
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy, pathology, and ultrasound physics.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of professionalism, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
