Duties of the Registrar

  • The University Registrar is the Chief Administrative Officer of the University responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administration of the University except for financial matters which falls within the purview of the Bursar.
  • By virtue of the position, the Registrar is the statutory Secretary to Council, Senate, Congregation, Convocation and the Committee of these bodies.

Qualification and Experience

  • The Candidate must possess good honours degree from a recognized University plus at least twenty-three (23) years relevant post-qualification experience, most of which preferably, should be in University administration and must be holding at least the position of Deputy Registrar in a University.
  • He/She must also be compliant with Information and Communication Technology (ICT). The possession of higher degree(s) would be an added advantage. The candidate must not be more than sixty (60) years at the time of assumption of duty.

Qualities of the Candidate

  • The Candidate must be a person of impeccable integrity with the ability to command the respect and trust of both staff and students. He/She must possess drive, initiative and foresight, and understand the intricacies and complexities of the 21st century higher educational institution.
  • In addition, He/She must be capable of articulating the vision of the University generally and be able to drive a vibrant Registry. Must be pleasant disposition with sound leadership qualities and must be of good physical and mental health.
  • He/She shall submit a statement of his or her vision and mission for the University which should not be more than five hundred (500) words.

Remuneration

  • A consolidated salary for University Registrar with NUC approved benefits and allowances as applicable to the Nigerian University System/other benefits/entitlements as approved by the Governing Council from time to time.

Conditions of Service

  • As stipulated by the University law of 18th March, 2021, the Registrar shall hold office for a Single Term of five (5) years only and on such terms and conditions as specified in his/her letter of appointment.
