Operations Engineer

Job Summary

  • We are seeking an experienced Operations Engineer with a strong background in Instrumentation, Control Systems, and Engineering Design to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have Working knowledge of upstream Nigerian oil industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze project documents to establish technical requirements.
  • Identify risks and implement preventive measures to achieve critical project milestones.
  • Develop and configure PLC, SCADA, and DCS systems across various platforms.
  • Conduct site surveys, FAT, pre-commissioning, commissioning, startup, and performance tests.
  • Prepare and manage preventive maintenance plans for instruments and control systems.
  • Provide instrumentation and control system support for process unit operations.
  • Design and implement metering systems in compliance with ISO, API, AGA, and NUPRC guidelines.
  • Perform engineering design reviews and instrument engineering simulations.
  • Lead project planning, scheduling, and control activities to ensure timely delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Instrumentation & Control Engineering.
  • 5 – 10 years of proven experience in detailed engineering and design of instrumentation and control systems for oil and gas projects.
  • Strong knowledge of international codes, standards, and best practices (ISA, NEC, NFPA, BS, API, IEC, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with Emerson, Schneider, and Java applications — OEM training and certifications required.
  • Working knowledge of upstream Nigerian oil industry standards is preferred.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
