Locations: Owode-Onirin and Ikorodu, Lagos

Job Summary

  • The Account Officer is responsible for managing the financial records and transactions of the PET recycling company.
  • This role involves preparing financial statements, maintaining accurate accounts, overseeing budget management, and ensuring compliance with local financial regulations.
  • The Account Officer plays a vital role in supporting the company’s financial health and sustainability initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Record Keeping:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including ledgers, journals, and invoices.
  • Process accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
  • Reconcile bank statements and manage cash flow.

Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, and areas for improvement.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.

Compliance and Auditing:

  • Ensure compliance with local financial regulations and tax obligations.
  • Prepare for and support internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets.

Cost Analysis and Management:

  • Conduct cost analysis to support decision-making and operational efficiency.
  • Monitor expenses and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
  • Collaborate with other departments to assess the financial impacts of projects and initiatives.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with management to provide financial insights and support strategic planning.
  • Communicate financial information clearly to non-financial team members.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, customers, and other stakeholders regarding financial transactions.

Tax Preparation and Compliance:

  • Prepare and file tax returns in accordance with Nigerian tax laws and regulations.
  • Stay informed about changes in tax regulations and assess their impact on the company.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements in financial operations.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and implement relevant changes.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience: Previous experience in accounting or finance, preferably in the recycling or manufacturing sector.

Skills:

  • High proficiency in using accounting software such as Power Enterprise and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Knowledge of Nigerian financial regulations and tax laws.
