FSL OFFICER
ABOUT THE JOB:
To support the implementation of the Food Security and Livelihood component in Borno State.
ROLE
The food security and livelihood officer is to provide technical support for the organization at field level. He/she will act as the line manager to the field supervisors, providing job coaching and on the job training for the subordinates, and also managing their queries where necessary.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
The post holder will receive a context specific ToR for each deployment, which will draw upon the responsibilities outlined below.
Programme Support (typically will be at field level):
- Support field level technical assessments in coordination with the FSL Coordinator, ensuring assessment findings are documented and that all assessments include a specific analysis of children’s needs.
- Support field supervisors and assistants in sensitizations at communities and ensure to beneficiaries are informed about the programme and their entitlements and how to access support or channel feedbacks.
- Supervises all field activities including redemption of e-voucher by beneficiaries at the community and vendor’s locations.
- With the support of FSL Coordinator, support project implementation to ensure timely delivery of project activities.
- Work closely with the FSL Coordinator and/or other senior programme staff, support timely programme and donor reports on project activities in compliance with internal SC requirements and any relevant external donor requirements.
- With support from the Accountability Lead (M&E) ensure accountability is enforced in all project activities as well as ensuring that feedback from the beneficiaries and their families is considered in project design/implementation
- Ensure that the minimum standards of humanitarian relief are maintained in accordance with the Sphere Charter and Red Cross Code of Conduct.
- Support field supervisors and assistants in conducting beneficiaries livelihood needs assessment, records and reported to the project line manager at timely bases.
- Supervise and monitor progress of food security and livelihood activities and report timely to FSL coordinator.
- Facilitate capacity development trainings, on the job coaching and mentorship of field assistants at filed levels.
- Adhere and operates based on core humanitarian Principles.
- Ensure all supervisors and field assistants adhere to COVID-19 safety measures as laid down by NCDC during filed activities.
- Ensure all supervisors and field assistants appeared in their appropriate dressing (visibility jackets) while in the field at all times.
- Shall accept and take up any other responsibilities that may be assigned by your line manager or any other superior officer/Management.
Qualification:
- B.Sc. /HND in Agric, FST, Nutrition, Public Health, or any related field from a certified tertiary institution
- At least 3years experience in FSL/Nutrition/developmental work
Skills:
- Demonstrate capacity to work in a team and an excellent management skill
- Excellent communication skills and a willingness to be respectful, kind, sensitive, and empathize with all beneficiaries and their carers
- Flexibility
- Excellent in report writing and meeting to timeline
- Willingness to work in all locations as assigned by the line manager
- Ability and willingness to frequently travel and stay at the field
- Commitment to and understanding of EYN Project aims, values, and principles
- Fluency in written and spoken English and local languages
- Computer literacy
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- A critical thinker with outstanding interpersonal skills.
