Project Planner
Job Description
- The Project Planner is responsible for developing, monitoring, and maintaining project schedules, resource plans, and progress reports to ensure timely and cost-effective execution of oil and gas projects.
- The role ensures alignment between engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities, providing accurate forecasting, analysis, and reporting to support decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, update, and maintain detailed project schedules (using Primavera P6/MS Project or equivalent).
- Work with project managers and discipline leads to define work breakdown structures (WBS) and establish baselines.
- Track progress against schedules, highlight variances, and recommend corrective actions.
- Prepare resource loading plans and forecasts for manpower, equipment, and materials.
- Support cost control by integrating schedules with budgets and monitoring earned value performance.
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure project milestones are realistic and achievable.
- Generate weekly and monthly progress reports, dashboards, and presentations for management and clients.
- Identify risks, delays, and opportunities; propose mitigation strategies.
- Ensure planning processes comply with company procedures, industry standards, and client requirements.
- Participate in project meetings, providing input on planning and scheduling matters.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Project Management, or related discipline.
- Master’s Degree in Engineering, Project Management or any relevant field is an added advantage.
- Minimum 7-10 years’ experience in project planning/scheduling within the oil and gas industry.
- PMP, APM, PRINCE2®, or equivalent Project Management Certification.
- Strong knowledge of project management principles (WBS, critical path analysis, earned value management).
- Experience in EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) projects is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with industry codes, standards, and HSE requirements.
