Senior Logistics Officer

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of logistics/fleet management, ensuring timely receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods.
  • Coordination with truck Drivers and organizing the receiving process for raw materials delivered by suppliers, including prioritizing arrivals.
  • Customer Truck Management for instance to maintain an efficient truck schedule to ensure that first come, first dispatched.
  • Weighbridge Monitoring & recording truck weights before and after offloading raw materials.
  • Overseeing the security team to ensure compliance with company instructions and procedures.
  • Managing the parking arrangements for suppliers and customer trucks, both inside and outside the factory premises.
  • Coordination with the Quality Control staff to facilitate sampling and testing of received raw materials from the suppliers.
  • Develop and implement strategies for inventory control, warehouse layout optimization, and stock accuracy.
  • Manage inbound and outbound logistics, including transportation, route planning, and delivery schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality standards across all logistics and warehouse activities.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track operational efficiency and identify areas for improvement.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts with third-party logistics providers (3PLs) to achieve cost efficiency.
  • Handle escalations related to logistics challenges and resolve operational issues promptly.
  • Prepare regular reports on inventory, logistics performance, and cost analysis for senior management review.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred
  • 8 – 10 years of experience in a similar role within the FMCG sector and preferably from Feedmill companies.
  • Proven track record in warehouse management, logistics, and supply chain operations.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to optimize processes and drive cost savings.
  • Proficiency in Fleet Management Systems (FMS) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tools.
  • Certification in Supply Chain Management (e.g., APICS CPIM or CSCP).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
