Shift In-charge – Distillery & ETP

Job Summary
- We are looking for a competent and responsible Shift In charge to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Distillery and Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) during assigned shifts.
- The ideal candidate will ensure smooth operation, process efficiency, and compliance with safety and environmental regulations, while leading a team of operators and technicians.
Key Responsibilities
- Distillery Operations:
- Supervise and monitor all distillery processes, including Milling, liquification fermentation, distillation, CO2 recovery & WTP.
- Ensure optimal operation of distillation columns, fermenters, heat exchangers, and storage systems etp.
- Coordinate raw material feeding, product collection, and process parameter adjustments.
- Maintain process parameters to achieve targeted production efficiency and yield.
- Monitor utilities (steam, water, power) and ensure their efficient usage.
ETP Operations:
- Oversee operations of anaerobic digesters, clarifiers, aeration tanks, and sludge handling systems.
- Monitor COD, BOD, pH, TSS, and other key effluent parameters to ensure compliance with pollution control board norms.
- Coordinate with lab team for regular sampling and reporting.
- Identify abnormalities and take corrective actions to avoid environmental violations.
- Shift Management:
- Lead, train, and coordinate with plant operators, helpers, and maintenance team during shift hours.
- Maintain shift logbooks, reports, and production data.
- Ensure proper communication during shift handovers.
- Report breakdowns, deviations, and emergency incidents to higher management.
- Health, Safety & Compliance:
- Implement and enforce safety procedures and plant hygiene standards.
- Ensure usage of PPEs and compliance with EHS policies.
- Support internal and external audits (safety, quality, environment).
- Participate in emergency preparedness and safety drills.
Qualifications
- Diploma / B.Tech in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- 4–8 years of experience in distillery operations and ETP (ethanol/sugar/alcohol industries preferred).
- Knowledge of fermentation/distillation processes and biological/chemical ETP systems.
- Familiarity with process instrumentation, SCADA/DCS operation.

Key Responsibilities

Education Qualifications / Other Soft Skill Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Paint Technology or Chemical Engineering is a must.
- Strong interest in building a career in sales and business development.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Eagerness to learn, adaptable, and self-motivated.
- Basic knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work in a team and take direction from senior staff.
- Willingness to travel and meet clients as required.
