Job responsibilities
- Assist the QHSSE Head in the implementation of HSSE-MS.
- Performs and assumes other duties and responsibilities as may be required by HOD
- Assist with and prepare monthly departmental Safety/Security Budget inputs
- Safety Budget Planning
- Conducts QHSSE presentation and training to employees as required
- Conducts QHSSE internal audits and inspections to ensure compliance with standards
- Conducts incident/accident investigation
- Participate proactively in management walk-through inspections and assist in ensuring all deviations are corrected.
- Collect, analyze, and Document HSE Statistics and Safety/Security bulletins.
- Conduct Basic HSSE Internal Training including on-the-job training.
- Report, Evaluate & Correct unsafe acts or unsafe conditions
- Conduct Pre-arrival/pre-deployment Inspection of Vessels.
- Participate in HSSE Documentation.
- Conduct Safety/Security PEP Talks/Briefings and Safety meetings. Participate in all incident Investigation
- Inspecting all supplies and fitted safety equipment on-board, galley supplies for ships, ashore mess/galley, and (dry) dock environment.
- Check observance and enforcement of supervision of JHA on Non-routine/high-risk activities, PTW, JHA, TBT, Observation/Stop Cards, etc.
- Distribute and ensure PPE-appropriate usage
- Conduct Safety/Security Drills, D&A, Covid-19 Safety measures and disinfection exercise
- Issuance of basic Medicines/Drugs for shipboard and ashore (FAB) usage
- Follow-up on fumigation, sanitation, and water-analysis certificates from governmental ministry and other regulatory organization
- Ensuring continuous ZERO Environmental issues such as wastes, emissions, spills, incidents, and security threats adherence.
- Manage, practice, and enforce compliance to ISO (9001/14001/45001 & 18788), ISM (SMS System) Code, ISPS Code, OVID/OVMSA, etc.
- Manage, participate and conduct Internal Audit/Management Review for ISO 9001/14001/45001/18788 & ISM/ISPS Codes for both ashore and shipboard.
Educational Qualifications, Certifications and Experience:
Educational Qualifications:
- Holding a degree or diploma (BSc /HND) in marine and general engineering, nautical science/general science, or a relevant field.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant work experience.
- General HSE Certificate
- EBOSH-IGC
- Candidate must hold relevant certification training in ISM code, ISPS Code, STCW’95, ISO 9001:2015 (QMS), ISO 14001:2015(EMS), ISO 45001:2018 (OHSMS), and or additionally ISO 18788:2015 (SOMS)
- Possess knowledge of ISM/ISPS code Internal Auditing for both Shipboard and Office and ISO 9001;14001;45001 & 18788
- Membership in relevant professional bodies will be an added advantage. Leadership Management Training Course/Certification in Maritime is an added advantage.
- Discharge Book/Yellow Book/International Passport/SID Number. Not mandatory for this role. ISM Code Knowledge, skills and certification.
