  • Chemicaland seeks an exceptional General Manager with deep experience in turnarounds, operational excellence, cashflow management, and strategic leadership to transform the business into a high-performance, growth-driven enterprise.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Chemicaland’s strategic growth, operations, and transformation agenda.
  • Manage full P&L, cashflow, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
  • Strengthen systems across production, sales, marketing, QC, finance & HR.
  • Build a high-performing, self-driven company culture with strong accountability.
  • Lead expansion into new regions, distributors, and product lines.
  • Ensure quality, occupational health & all regulatory compliance.
  • Lead cross-functional teams and oversee all departmental heads.

Qualifications;

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Agriculture, or related field.
  • MBA or Master’s in Strategy/Leadership highly preferred.
  • Professional certifications in leadership, strategy, or finance are an added advantage.

Experience

  • 10+ years senior leadership experience, at least 5 years in manufacturing, agri-inputs, FMCG, or chemicals.
  • Proven turnaround, restructuring, or rapid-growth achievements.
  • Strong experience managing budgets for SMEs.
  • Demonstrated success in building high-performance teams.

Skills & Competencies

  • Cashflow forecasting & working capital management.
  • Strategic planning and execution.
  • Leadership, people management & culture-building.
  • Strong understanding of sales, marketing & operational systems.

Method of Application

Description
A high-pressure, target-driven role for a strong commercial leader.

The Sales Manager leads Chemicaland’s entire selling function across Kenya and the wider African target markets. This includes:

  • Delivering annual sales target
  • Recruiting, training, and supervising sales agents, technical sales staff & regional personnel
  • Executing a strong product distribution strategy
  • Ensuring strict compliance with collection, banking, pricing, credit limits, and the incentive scheme
  • Coordinating closely with marketing, production, finance, and operations
  • This role requires a decisive, high-performance, field-oriented leader with proven results in agro-inputs or FMCG.

Responsibilities

Sales Strategy & Execution

  • Lead development of 12-month sales plan and regional sales strategies.
  • Grow sales, revenue, collections and market penetration.
  • Lead van sales, agrovet stocking, distributor acquisition.
  • Ensure pricing discipline and promotional compliance.

People Management

  • Lead sales agents, technical sales executives, interns, and agronomists.
  • Set regional targets and ensure daily/weekly reporting.
  • Conduct weekly sales reviews and field coaching.

Customer & Distributor Management

  • Acquire new distributors and agro-vets.
  • Conduct route-to-market mapping.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction and reduce churn.

Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure all incentives are based on collection & banking.
  • Enforce penalties for delayed payments, bounced cheques, recalls, or order cancellations.
  • Maintain real-time reporting dashboards.

Qualifications

  • Diploma/Degree in Agribusiness, Sales, Marketing or relevant field.
  • 5–10 years proven sales experience in agro-inputs or FMCG.
  • Minimum 3 years in a supervisory role.
