Theatre Technologist
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain the operating theatre and related equipment before, during, and after surgery.
- Sterilize, arrange, and ensure availability of surgical instruments and materials.
- Assist the surgical, anesthetic, and nursing teams during operations.
- Maintain aseptic techniques and ensure infection prevention and control at all times.
- Clean and disinfect surgical instruments and equipment after use.
- Monitor and maintain theatre equipment, reporting any faults or breakdowns promptly.
- Prepare patients for surgery and ensure their safe transfer to and from the operating theatre.
- Maintain accurate records of surgical procedures, instruments, and supplies used.
- Ensure proper waste segregation and disposal according to hospital policies.
- Participate in theatre quality improvement, emergency drills, and continuous professional development activities.
Requirements for Appointment:
- Diploma in Theatre Technology or Operating Theatre Technology from a recognized institution.
- Registration with a relevant professional body where applicable.
- Proficiency in infection prevention and control practices.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
- At least one (1) year of experience in a busy theatre setup will be an added advantage.
- Meets the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.
