Technical Head
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervisory roles:
- Lead site selection, survey, and feasibility assessments for SUN Mobility station deployments.
- Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and partners to ensure timely and compliant installations.
- Oversee import logistics for batteries, QISs, and technical equipment into Kenya.
- Manage the commissioning, operations, and maintenance of battery-swapping stations.
- Build and lead a team of support engineers and technicians to ensure seamless technical execution.
- Drive preventive and corrective maintenance programs to ensure maximum uptime and safety.
- Collaborate with business, logistics, and finance teams to ensure aligned and efficient rollouts.
- Ensure regulatory compliance, quality standards, and safety protocols across all technical operations.
- Monitor station performance; track KPIs and provide insights to leadership for continuous improvement.
- Field Technical & Service Support:
- Lead and manage field service teams for QIS and battery swap operations.
- Ensure timely resolution of technical issues and customer complaints.
- Develop SOPs and training programs for field technicians.
- Battery Operations:
- Oversee battery swap stations and ensure operational efficiency.
- Manage in-house battery repair center including diagnostics, refurbishing, and testing.
- Implement preventive maintenance schedules and quality checks.
- Asset Assurance & Logistics:
- Monitor and ensure the health and tracking of deployed assets.
- Coordinate import logistics including customs clearance and documentation.
- Liaise with vendors and logistics partners for timely delivery and compliance.
- Workshop & Experience Centers:
- Supervise workshop operations and technician performance.
- Ensure experience centers are technically equipped and customer ready.
- Drive continuous improvement in service delivery and customer engagement.
- Spares & Inventory Management:
- Manage spare parts inventory, procurement, and distribution.
- Ensure availability of critical components and maintain optimal stock levels.
- Implement inventory control systems and audits.
- Planning & Operations:
- Develop and execute operational plans aligned with business goals.
- Monitor KPIs and service metrics to drive performance improvements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams for seamless execution.
- Workshop Accounts & Reporting:
- Oversee service-related accounts and budgeting.
- Ensure accurate reporting of service costs, warranty claims, and asset utilization.
- Present monthly performance reports to senior management.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- 10–12 years of experience in the EV industry, with exposure to battery systems, charging/swapping infrastructure, or vehicles.
- A bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or related engineering field. A master’s will be an added advantage.
- Proven expertise in site selection, contractor/vendor management, and project execution.
- Strong understanding of import logistics, warehousing, and technical compliance.
- Previous experience in leading technical teams and cross-functional projects.
- Hands-on experience in station operations, commissioning, and preventive maintenance.
- Background in startups, EV infrastructure, or automotive technology is highly preferred.
