Regional Coordinator for ACSL

You will:

  • Identify potential partners in the 3 countries in collaboration with the VVOB team and Ministries of Education.
  • You coordinate the co-creation of CPD content and organize workshops on CPD delivery, including on the online and blended delivery of CPD.
  • Set up appropriate structures and working arrangements with the selected partners through embedded country coordinators in the respective partner countries and organise regular coordination and progress meetings to steer the delivery of CPD programmes and initiatives.
  • Follow up on delivery of CPD programmes in the partner countries through regular monitoring and evaluation, including through country visits, in close cooperation with the Strategic Education Advisor M&E and Research.
  • Document lessons learned and best practices and facilitate learning between the different partners. You contribute to internal and external knowledge development and learning, by systemizing lessons learned and sharing these proactively between partners and colleagues.
  • Contribute to regular process updates and reporting to the Centre’s partners, including donors and investors.
  • Work together and support the Centre’s Strategic Education Advisor School Leadership in the development of regional standards on effective school leadership as well as in the development of CPD content amongst others on Gender and School leadership and on Ubuntu School Leadership.
  • Reach out to potential additional partners of the Centre, represent VVOB and the Centre in relevant platforms and proactively look for synergies and complementarities.
  • Work together with the VVOB team to identify potential learning partners as needed and potential financial partners who could further support the Centre.
  • If you’re our Regional Coordinator, your workweek at the office will include the following highlights:
  • You have an online meeting with the partners of the Centre to present and discuss the main findings and commonalities identified through the capacity needs assessment exercise you organised earlier.
  • You check in with the VVOB team in Kenya to prepare for a visit in the next month. Together with the team, you discuss which other technical partners will be invited for a consultation on the delivery of CPD to school leaders in Kenya.
  • Lunch! A perfect way to informally check in with your VVOB colleagues to hear the latest updates about the inception and the foundation phases of the Centre.
  • You head back to the office for a meeting with VVOB Rwanda’s Country
  • Programmes Manager to discuss how best to coordinate the delivery of CPD activities that will be implemented by the partners of the Centre. You discuss if your proposed solution is in line with the formal agreements set up with these partners.
  • You write out the meeting minutes to record the feedback received from the partners on the meeting you had earlier this week and integrate these findings in a revised activity plan.

Who are you?

Your expertise and experience

  • A Master’s degree, preferably in education, international development, public policy, or a related field, or equivalent through experience;
  • At least seven years of relevant work experience, more specifically in coordination of national and preferably multi-country education programmes;
  • An in-depth understanding of latest developments in the education sector in general and school leadership in particular;
  • A good understanding on upscaling of education innovations (from pilot to scale);
  • At least three years of experience working in sub-Saharan Africa;
  • At least three years of experience with capacity building of organisations, teams and persons, preferably in strengthening government systems and structures;
  • Strong time and project management skills (planning, budgeting, report writing);
  • A flexible self-starter with a proven ability to multitask and adjust to changing circumstances;
  • A strategic mindset with the motivation and ambition to put your shoulders under a new VVOB flagship on promoting effective school leadership in the African region.
  • Experience with working in a multicultural team;
  • At least two years of experience in a position working closely with external stakeholders, preferably with multiple partners;
  • English proficiency: CEFR level C1. Language skills in French are a plus.
