Duties and Responsibilities
- The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment. The internship is in the Digital Strategy Section of the Communication Division of UNEP Nairobi Duty Station. The section is responsible for digital communications activities and includes social media, web, internal communications and the library/knowledge repository units. Responsibilities Within delegated authority, the intern may be responsible for the following duties:
- Research, compile, draft and edit basic information for use in the preparation and production of online content, often under tight deadlines.
- Review existing content to identify required edits and clean up in line with agreed strategies.
- Advise on reporting activities, analytics and creation of dashboards (such as PowerBI).
- Attend meetings as an observer.
- Manage meeting agendas and draft meeting notes.
- Create presentations and training curricula.
- Carry out research tasks and provide inputs into digital strategy planning and activities.
- Assist with special projects as assigned.
Qualifications/special skills
- Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
- Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
- Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
- Preferred areas of studies: Communications, Information Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- No working experience is required. Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work. experience.
- However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Programme.
