Phlebotomist
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient collection of blood and other specimens, ensuring proper handling, labeling, and processing in accordance with laboratory protocols. The Phlebotomist will play a key role in maintaining patient comfort and safety while upholding high standards of infection control and collaborating with medical and laboratory staff.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and other specimen collection procedures safely and accurately.
- Ensure proper labeling, preparation, and handling of samples according to established protocols.
- Reassure and support patients during specimen collection to minimize discomfort and anxiety.
- Maintain sterile equipment and comply with infection control and safety standards.
- Assist in laboratory-related tasks and administrative duties as required.
- Work collaboratively with doctors, nurses, and laboratory staff to support overall patient care.
- Maintain accurate records of specimens collected and any incidents encountered.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Certificate in Phlebotomy or Laboratory Technology from a recognized institution.
- Licensed/Registered with the relevant professional body.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in phlebotomy or a related role.
- Excellent venipuncture and specimen collection skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to handle patients with empathy.
- Knowledge of infection prevention and control protocols.
