People Associate at Onafriq

People Associate

  • We are seeking to recruit a People Associate to join the People team and support HR and office administration duties. The successful candidate should possess exceptional communication skills, strong organizational skills, and be comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • The role will be based in Nairobi, Kenya.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • People and Culture Support
  • Assist in recruitment process, including job posting, scheduling interviews, conducting reference checks, drafting offer letters and employment contracts.
  • Support employee onboarding process and offboarding by ensuring all meetings are scheduled and required documentation is completed.
  • Support performance review processes by sending the communication, tracking progress and sending reminders.
  • Assist in implementing wellbeing programs, employee engagement and company culture initiatives.
  • Help manage people’s team policies, ensuring all staff have signed the employee handbook and are informed of the guidelines and employee benefits.
  • Manage the onboarding and offboarding of employees on the medical insurance cover.
  • Drafting of bank, Visa and employment letters.
  • Manage work permit applications.
  • Address people team related employee inquiries and escalate concerns as needed.
  • Office Administration
  • Oversee inventory management and ensure office supplies are well-stocked.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe office environment.
  • Support IT in coordinating work tools sourcing, issuance and collection upon joining and exiting.
  • Manage office correspondence, and documentation ensuring compliance with data protection act.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Relevant qualification in human resources, office administration, or a related role.
  • 2+ years of experience in human resource management.
  • Must be adept at problem-solving, including being able to identify issues and resolve them in a timely manner.
  • Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with utmost confidentiality.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with a diversed workforce
  • Must have excellent analytical, interpersonal and people skills.
  • Must have excellent emotional intelligence, including empathy, awareness and be comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • French speaking, added advantage
