Requirements for Appointment

To be eligible for appointment to the position of Tutorial Fellow, the candidate must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree from an accredited/ recognized University:
  • MBChB or BDS;
  • Demonstrable potential for university teaching and or research during the appointment interview and also during the contract period;
  • Registered for a relevant Doctorate (Ph.D.) degree or MDS or MMed;
  • Evidence of membership or affiliation to the relevant professional body where applicable;
  • Proficiency in computer applications;
  • Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance;

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Chairperson of Department a Tutorial Fellow will be expected to:
  • Actively pursue their PhD studies and complete within the required time frame
  • Assist with Lecturing in area of specialization in accordance with the curriculum up to Bachelor’s level;
  • Assist in setting, invigilating and marking examination/assignments;
  • Carrying out research work under the guidance and supervision of a senior academic member of staff;
  • Assist preparing students progress reports; and
  • Prepare research articles for publications and/or books.
