Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities will entail:
- Diagnosing, caring for, and treating diseases.
- Performing medical and surgical procedures.
- Preparing for and responding to emergencies and disasters.
- Participating in the management of medicines, medical instruments, and equipment.
- Providing health education.
- Maintaining medical records, health information, and data.
- Teaching and coaching medical students, nursing students, and clinical officer interns.
- Preparing requisite documents for registration.
Requirements for Appointment
- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B; Ch.B.) degree from a recognized institution by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
- Successfully completed one (1) year Internship from a recognized institution.
- Registration license from the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
- Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution.
- Training in emergency medicine will be an added advantage.

Method of Application
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide appropriate healthcare services including Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (IMCI), Immunization, PMTCT, antenatal care, labour, birthing, and post-natal services.
- Provide health education and counseling to patients, clients, and the community on identified health needs.
- Refer patients and clients appropriately.
- Facilitate patients’ admission and initiate discharge plans.
- Maintain records on patients’ or clients’ health condition and care.
- Ensure a tidy and safe clinical environment.
- Collect and compile data.
- Conduct assessment of school health needs.
- Assess, diagnose, and manage individuals across the life cycle utilizing relevant standards and protocols stipulated in the scope of practice.
- Provide emergency care in line with stipulated guidelines.
- Order, perform, and utilize laboratory and diagnostic findings to provide healthcare to patients according to relevant protocols and guidelines, and as prescribed in the scope of practice.
- Prescribe selected drugs and administer any other prescribed medication to clients/patients as stipulated in the scope of practice.
- Contribute to specification and quality checks to determine the suitability of medical health devices and supplies in healthcare.
- Prescribe and perform selected medical surgical procedures as stipulated in the scope of practice.
- Contribute to designing and implementation of community health initiatives/programmes.
- Provide a link or interface between the community and the appropriate health system.
Requirements for Appointment
- Diploma in any of the following disciplines: Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing, Kenya Registered Nursing, Kenya Registered Midwifery, Kenya Registered Nursing/Midwifery, or Kenya Registered Nursing/Mental Health and Psychiatry or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
- Computer proficiency.
- Registered practitioner by the Nursing Council of Kenya.
- Valid Practicing License from the Nursing Council of Kenya.
- Member of relevant Nursing and Midwifery Associations.
- Training in Critical Care Nursing, Renal Nursing, Anaesthesiology, or Neonatal Care Nursing will be an added advantage.
