MSc. Student – Conservation Technology & Human-Wildlife Conflict
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Kenyan, Second-Year MSc. student to join an exciting conservation technology project tackling human-wildlife conflict in Laikipia expected to begin in August 2025. This position will run for 6 months.
In this role, you will:
- Monitor and help reduce conflict between people, elephants, and carnivores
- Repair and maintain solar-powered speaker systems in the field
- Train local communities on using conservation technology
- Collect and analyze data on conflict events
- Provide regular project updates to collaborators and funders Collaborate with international partners and publish scientific papers
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Currently pursuing an MSc degree in conservation, ecology, social science, or related field
- Familiar with local conservation issues and human-wildlife conflict
- Has Technical aptitude (electronics or mechanical systems)
- Capable of driving a motorcycle on challenging road networks
- Strong communication skills (English, Kiswahili; local languages a plus)
- Passion for working with rural communities and advancing conservation
