Mechanical Technician (Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning -HVAC).

Job Purpose:

  • The Mechanical Technician – Heating Ventilation & Air Conditioning will be responsible for conducting inspection, installation, testing, commissioning, servicing, and maintenance of Heating Ventilation & Air Conditioning systems at the Cardiothoracic Centre to ensure their efficient and reliable operation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and resolve Heating Ventilation & Air Conditioning equipment faults in a timely manner.
  • Carry out installation, testing, and commissioning of Heating Ventilation & Air Conditioning works.
  • Conduct periodic preventive maintenance of Heating Ventilation & Air Conditioning equipment.
  • Proactively inspect Heating Ventilation & Air Conditioning installations and identify potential issues.
  • Perform reactive repair and maintenance of Heating Ventilation & Air Conditioning systems as required.
  • Assist in diagnosing faults in other mechanical installations when assigned.
  • Collect and document information on mechanical installations for input into the Integrated Health Information Management System (I-HMIS).
  •  Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, or related field from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience working with Heating Ventilation & Air Conditioning installations and related equipment.
  • Membership with a relevant professional body is desirable.
  • Previous experience with AHUs, Split Units, VRFs, VRVs, extract fans, and refrigerators.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings.
  • Strong multitasking, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships.
  • Demonstrated integrity, reliability, and self-drive with ability to work under minimal supervision.
