Legal Officer

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Control and co-ordination of the University legal affairs.
  • Shall be the Chief Legal Advisor of the University Management, senate and council.
  • Assisting the Vice Chancellor in council Secretarial Services.
  • Guiding the council and management on the Key governance and compliance issues.
  • Drafting of legal documents, handling cases involving the University and advising the University on all legal matters.
  • Ensure University legal and regulatory frameworks are legally compliant through constant review.
  • Interpret the University Statutes, Terms and Conditions of Service, Collective Agreements, Memorandum of Understandings, Contracts and other documents that are legally binding.

REQUIREMENTS FOR APPOINTMENT: –

For appointment to this grade, a person must possess the following qualifications:

  • Have a Bachelors degree in law from a recognized university;
  • Be an advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a current practicing certificate.
  • Have 3 years experience in a similar position or in legal practice.
  • A Certified Public Secretary (CPS – K) and member of ICPSK with a valid practicing license is an added advantage.
