Key Responsibilities
- Review, draft, negotiate, and amend customer and supplier contracts relating to L&S services including transportation, trucking, freight forwarding, warehousing, depot and customs.
- Proactively flag legal risks and provide commercially sound and pragmatic advice.
- Ensure timely contract reviews and manage obligations throughout the contract lifecycle.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders including commercial, procurement, and product teams.
- Support contract governance and ensure consistency with Maersk policies and global legal standards.
- Deliver training to internal stakeholders on legal principles and contracting best practices.
- Support leadership in handling regional legal matters and contribute to global and regional initiatives.
- Monitor relevant legal developments in the region and conduct legal research to inform business decisions.
Required Experience & Skills
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB); Master’s degree is a plus.
- Admitted to practice law in a jurisdiction within the Eastern Africa region.
- Minimum of 6 years legal experience, preferably in an international organization or reputable law firm (or both).
- Knowledge of international commercial law and regional legal frameworks.
- Experience in the logistics, supply chain, or transport sectors is an advantage.
- Strong negotiation skills, detail oriented and able to handle multiple demands at the same time.
- Strong analytical and communication skills; high attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently.
- Proficiency in English
