JOB PURPOSE (ROLE)
- The O&M Engineer will be responsible to ensure optimal performance of solar PV systems through effective monitoring, maintenance, and technical support. The O&M Engineer is responsible for diagnosing faults, executing preventive and corrective maintenance, and supporting system performance improvement while ensuring full compliance with operational standards and warranty obligations
FUNCTIONS
- Monitor the performance of solar PV systems to ensure optimal functionality.
- Perform real-time diagnosis and resolution of operational faults, alarms, and system downtimes.
- Execute and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance activities as per schedules.
- Ensure timely availability and management of maintenance tools, spare parts, and consumables.
- Analyze plant performance data to identify underperforming assets and recommend/implement technical solutions.
- Liaise with the design and engineering teams to resolve systemic performance issues.
- Conduct routine site inspections and audits to assess technical and physical conditions of solar assets.
- Maintain updated records including service logs, fault reports, and system documentation for all operational sites.
- Prepare and present periodic reports covering system performance, site maintenance, and incident analysis.
- Provide technical support during client escalations, site visits, and post-commissioning handovers.
- Ensure O&M activities are aligned with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) requirements and warranty terms.
- Collaborate with the Asset Manager, project teams, and contractors to ensure all performance guarantees and KPIs are met.
- Support the review and validation of project installation and commissioning to confirm conformance with approved plans.
- Participate in budgeting processes for O&M activities and track expenditures versus budget.
- Travel to project sites as required for installations, repairs, inspections, and vendor support.
- Review and provide feedback on system designs to ensure maintainability and operational performance.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and environmental standards during all site activities.
- Provide field-based reports, site status updates, and recommendations to the Asset Manager and other stakeholders.
- Support system upgrades and retrofitting of assets in line with lifecycle optimization.
- Foster strong working relationships with clients, off-takers, and stakeholders for ongoing satisfaction and trust.
ACADEMIC/PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND MINIMUM EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with a focus on mechanical , Renewable Energy or electrical engineering.
- Three years minimum, 3+ years preferred of proven working experience on maintenance of solar PV projects.
- EPRA license (T2 or higher) is an added advantage.
- Familiarity with OEM service procedures, solar inverters, batteries, and monitoring platforms.
- Proficient in fault diagnosis, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
- Valid driving license and willingness to travel frequently to project sites.
