Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Strategic Financial Leadership: Provide overall financial leadership and guidance aligned with RHNK’s mission and strategic direction, contributing to organizational strategy and decision-making.
- Financial Oversight and Reporting: Oversee preparation and presentation of timely, accurate organizational general purpose financial statements and management reports to support decision-making at both management and board levels.
- Budgeting, Planning, and Analysis: Lead the annual and multi-year budgeting process, guide budget monitoring, forecasting, and reallocations, and conduct financial analyses to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Risk and Compliance Management: Oversee financial and operational risk management, ensuring effective internal controls, compliance with national laws, taxation, donor requirements, and international financial standards (GAAP, IFRS, IPSAS).
- Policy Development and Implementation: Lead the development, regular review, and effective implementation of financial and operational policies to ensure accountability, transparency, and efficiency across all departments.
- Grants and Contracts Management: Oversee financial management of grants and contracts, ensuring budgetary control, compliance with donor regulations, and timely submission of financial reports and supporting documentation.
- Resource Mobilization and Sustainability: Provide financial insights to support strategic decision-making and identify new funding opportunities, partnerships, and revenue diversification strategies to enhance RHNK’s sustainability.
- Audit and Donor Assessments: Coordinate internal, external, and donor audits; ensure implementation and follow-up of recommendations from audit and assessment reports.
- Board Secretariat Support: Oversee Board secretariat services and Support Board Finance and Audit Committee in preparation of board papers, and reports; ensuring timely follow-up on board directives.
- Leadership and Capacity Development: Mentor and manage the finance, human resource, and marketing teams, fostering a culture of Knowledge sharing, accountability and continuous improvement.
- Operational and Partner Engagement: Ensure sound financial operations including cash flow management and accounting controls, and represent RHNK in financial discussions with partners, donors, other stakeholders and field teams
Location
- The employee shall be based at the RHNK secretariat, and shall be required to travel at least 50% of their time.
Qualifications and Experiences
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or accounting, Master’s Degree in the same or equivalent field, CPA or equivalent qualification a must.
- A member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK).
- At least 10 years of progressive experience in financial management, preferably in the non-profit sector and Sacco.
- Strong knowledge of financial principles, practices, and regulations.
- Experience managing funds from diverse funders.
- Efficient with expertise in inventory control and processes, managing payroll, general ledger management, handling bank reconciliations, payment processing and management of Accounts payable and receivable.
- In-depth understanding of accounting principles, such GAAP, IFRS, IPSAS and varied donor reporting standards.
- Proficient in the use of accounting software, such as SAP, QuickBooks, Advanced Excel, SUN, Navision and various ERP systems to efficiently manage financial transactions, generate reports, and perform data analysis.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and diverse team environment.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
The Grants Officer will;
- Assist in the preparation, review, and submission of grant proposals, including budget development and narrative writing.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of grant-related documents, correspondence, and reports.
- Track grant deadlines, reporting requirements, and deliverables to ensure timely submission and compliance.
- Collaborate with finance and program staff to monitor grant expenditures and ensure adherence to budget allocations.
- Assist in the preparation of donor financial reports and ensure compliance with donor reporting guidelines.
- Serve as a liaison between program staff, funding partners, and other stakeholders regarding grant-related matters.
- Ensure compliance with donor regulations, policies, and procedures throughout the grant lifecycle.
- Assist in the development and implementation of grant management policies, procedures, and systems.
- Support capacity-building initiatives aimed at enhancing the grant management skills of staff members.
- Prepare and submit timely and accurate donor financial reports on grant activities and financial status to immediate supervisor.
- Monitor and document the grant making workflow processes, forms, templates, reports and data to assure full compliance with internal controls and legal requirements.
- Maintain working knowledge of RHNK’s programs and priority funding areas and remain
- abreast of current research, activities, and trends in the reproductive health sector.
Location
- The employee shall be based at the RHNK secretariat, and shall be required to travel at least 50% of their time.
Qualifications and Experiences
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as: Finance, Accounting, Economics or related fields.
- Candidates with a Masters Degree preferred.
- 5 years of relevant experience in grant management, donor compliance or financial oversight preferably USAID, FCDO projects etc
- Experience in budget preparation, grant proposal review, financial reporting and sub-grant management.
- Grants and contract management – from award to close-out.
- Strong understanding of financial systems, budgets and compliance.
- Analytical skills for reviewing budgets, financial reports and grant performance.
- Familiarity with grant lifecycle: solicitation, selection, award, implementation, monitoring and closeout.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Proficiency in grants management software
