ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Successful applicants will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Participate and successfully complete training for field data collection.
  • Understand the activities and objectives of the baseline study.
  • Locate key informants and administer Key Informant Interviews.
  • Recruit participants for Focus Group Discussions.
  • Facilitate focus group discussions with stakeholders such as parents, teachers, and civil society.
  • Accurately capture and record data and information from KIIs and FGDs on physical papers and online data entry forms.
  • Liaise with the experts where technical support is required and make daily progress reports.
  • Follow clear standards set and comply with all the requirements for a successful interview.
  • Ensure adherence to the Code of Conduct for data collection.
  • Anticipate unusual situations and make quick and responsible decisions.
  • Handle respondent queries and give appropriate responses and/or references.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

The assignment required research assistants with the following skills and experience:

  • Possess at least a diploma or a bachelor’s degree.
  • Previous experience undertaking KIIs, FGDs, and Learner Assessments preferred.
  • Understanding of the education sector is an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of mobile data collection is an added advantage.
  • Proven ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be a resident of the counties covered by the study, i.e., Kajiado and understand the local schools’ geography well. People living within Kakuma are encouraged to apply.
  • Possess a smartphone with at least Android version 11.0.
  • Those with experience supervising data collection/facilitating FGDs will be considered for a coordinator/facilitator role.
