The recruited candidate will work under the direct supervision of the Lead of the Urban Mobility team. Supporting the team’s broad set of activities and projects, the Intern’s principal tasks will be as follows:
- Provide programme support to ACRoS; with a focus on drafting a Communication Strategy and implementing it.
- Assist with ongoing communication with partners, current city members and new membership requests.
- Assist the Communications Assistant in updating tasks on the ACRoS website (WordPress platform), ensuring timely and accurate uploads of news, events, and resources. • Draft and edit stories, articles, and web features highlighting ACRoS activities, member contributions, and road safety initiatives for publication on the ACRoS website and other communication channels.
- Provide technical support for ongoing activities, such as developing capacity building materials, planning workshop agendas, managing memberships, and desktop research on road safety data and policies
- Developing surveys and questionnaires for Training-Needs-Assessment, impact assessment and feedback.
- Support the improvement and regular update of the ACRoS website, including adding new functionalities, uploading more relevant literature, and drafting road safety-related articles.
- Develop infographics, maps, tables and similar visual content for promotion and dissemination.
- Support staff in literature review, knowledge piece development, written briefs and reports.
- Support the development of an interactive, learning experience on road safety
- Any other tasks assigned related to the team’s portfolio
- Provide programme support to Port of Dar es Salaam Trade and Transport Improvement project; with a focus on drafting a Communication Strategy.
Qualifications/special skills
- Applicants must at the time of application, meet one of the following requirements: Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher),
- Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent),
- Have graduated with Bachelor’s degree, Masters, PhD or equivalent. Be computer literate in standard software applications (Microsoft Office Suite). Have demonstrated a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
- Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes a willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
- Preferred areas of study: Urban planning/design, Architecture, Computer Science/Information Technology, Data Science; Environmental Science, Innovation Management; Computer Science, Urban Geography or another field deemed relevant to the subject areas covered by the Programme for the purpose of this internship.

Responsibilities
- Support the HRTU team on their communication efforts to reach out to the wide range of clients on different communication initiatives.
- Design and improve the look and feel of the internal communication materials, that includes posters, quick guides, brochures, presentation decks, templates.
- Assist with improving the look and feel of online communication products.
- Contribute to the discussion of a visual identity for HRTU team.
- Liaises with relevant parties on job specifications and approval of mechanicals for dispatch, etc.
- Tracks and monitors production flow to ensure that deadlines are met.
- Performs other related assigned tasks as required.
Qualifications/special skills
