Human Resource Manager at West Kenya Sugar Limited

Job Summary:

Reporting to the General Manager, the job holder will oversee the management of the Human Resources function, including the formulation, review and implementation of HR policies and programs, as well as driving other HR functions, including talent acquisition, compensation and benefits, staff training and development, industrial relations, and performance management to support the attainment of the company's business objectives.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

Work closely with the Group HR leadership in the development, review, and implementation of HR policies, programs, and strategies, ensuring alignment with the organization's goals and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Drive and oversee HR compliance and governance at the unit level, ensuring adherence to legal and regulatory standards and the company's business objectives.
Collate and present data-driven insights, strategic HR updates, and monthly workforce data, and key initiatives that align with the organization's business objectives.
Prepare and present comprehensive reports on HR metrics, workforce trends, and strategic initiatives to the unit General Manager
Drive unit discussions on workforce planning, talent management, and organizational development within, ensuring strategic decisions are supported by robust HR analytics.
Implement initiatives to enhance organizational effectiveness, conflict resolution, culture, and employee engagement, ensuring alignment with the broader organization's values and objectives.
Oversee, at the unit level, the development and execution of performance management systems that drive employee productivity, accountability, and alignment with business goals.
Work with Heads of Departments and the Group HR leadership to design and implement leadership and talent pipeline programs that build the capability of current and future leaders to meet the organization's strategic objectives.
Drive effective and efficient delivery of HR services, including payroll, benefits administration, and employee relations in compliance with labor laws and regulations.
Leverage HR systems, technology and data analytics to drive decision-making, improve HR processes, and enhance employee experience.
Participate in developing and managing HR budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources to support strategic and routine HR initiatives
Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the management.

Required Qualifications and Competencies:

Bachelor's degree in human resource management, business management, social sciences or any other related or relevant field. Master's degree in human resource, Organization Development or in any other related field will be an added advantage.
Professional Human Resource membership and in good standing with the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM) Kenya.
Minimum of 10 years progressive HR work experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred, with a strong understanding of the unique HR challenges in the industry.
Proven track record of leading successful HR initiatives that drive business performance and employee productivity.
Good knowledge in HRIMS, especially SAP
Excellent communication and analytical skills.
Excellent interpersonal, supervisory, people-management and problem-solving skills.
Self-motivated individual, with team player skills and high level of collaboration with peers and supervisors.
Knowledge of Kenya labour laws and experience working with unions.
