Export Business Development Manager

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

  • The position is responsible for expanding company’s sales and operations into regional and international markets.
  • The role involves developing and implementing export strategies, identifying new business opportunities, managing relationships with clients, and ensuring compliance with export regulations. 

 MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Market Analysis and Strategy:
  • Developing and implementing export strategies aligned with company goals and objectives. 
  • Analysing market trends and customer needs to identify growth opportunities.
  • Asses potential of different regional/international markets. 
  • Business Development and Sales:
  • Identifying and prospecting new Regional / international clients.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with identified distributors, agents, and partners.
  • Negotiating contracts and terms with potential buyers.
  • Managing the sales process from initial contact to order fulfilment.
  • Operations and Logistics:
  • Coordinating with internal teams (sales, marketing, logistics, etc.) to ensure smooth export operations.
  • Managing export documentation, including invoices, packing lists, and bills of lading.
  • Ensuring compliance with international trade regulations and customs procedures.
  • Overseeing shipping logistics and freight forwarding. 
  • Relationship Management:
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for international customers. 
  • Addressing customer inquiries and resolving any issues related to export operations. 
  • Reporting and Analysis:
  • Monitoring and analysing export performance metrics.
  • Providing regular sales reports and performance analysis to senior management.
  • Identifying areas for improvement and recommending strategies for growth. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

Academic and Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Business Administration (Marketing option) or a related field, or
  • Diploma in Marketing or a related field with 10 years’ experience. 

Experience 

  • At least 10 years’ experience in Export Markets management in a busy FMCG environment.
